BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — A Bridgeport man accused of stabbing a police officer is in critical condition after police allegedly shot him.
In the early morning of Oct. 5, Bridgeport police responded to a call about an "emotionally disturbed" person at a home on the 100 block of Terry Place.
Upon arrival, police said they encountered Huntley Jackson, 45, who was wielding a knife and allegedly stabbed one of the responding officers in the shoulder, neck and head.
Police allegedly shot Jackson, who was then brought to Saint Vincent's Hospital and is currently in critical condition.
The injured officer was quickly taken to a nearby hospital to be treated, but was released later on.
According to police, Jackson is facing charges of attempted murder, assault in the first degree, assault on a public safety officer, threatening in the second degree, interfering/resisting arrest and carrying a dangerous weapon. His bond is set at $1 million.
The Officer of the Inspector General, Connecticut State Police, and the State Attorney’s Office are investigating.
Officers involved have been placed on modified duty pending the investigation.
