Pedestrian killed in Shelton: Police

SHELTON, Conn. — A tree service worker was fatally hit by a work vehicle in Shelton on Friday afternoon, according to police.

Shelton police, EMS and fire crews were called to the area of School Street and Monroe Road around 1 p.m.

Responded officers found an unresponsive male, who was pronounced dead on the scene, police said.

An investigation revealed that the victim, Erick Irizarry, 29, of Waterbury, was working in the area for Asplundh Tree Service when he was hit by a work vehicle, police said Monday.

This incident remains under investigation.
