NORWALK, Conn. — Police are investigating after a person was found dead in a car that was submerged in the Norwalk River on Thursday afternoon.
At around 12:16 p.m., Norwalk police received multiple 911 calls that were reporting a vehicle submerged in the river in the area of Moodys Lane.
Police along with emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene and found the vehicle under water with the body inside.
Rescue divers from the Stamford Fire Department recovered the body and the 24-year-old from Norwalk was pronounced dead at the scene.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the incident was intentional, police said.
"The members of the Norwalk Police Department extend our sincerest condolences," police said in a statement.
