MANCHESTER, Conn. — A multi-vehicle crash closed part of Interstate 84 in Manchester on Thursday morning, leaving one person dead.
The crash happened just before 7 a.m., closing the highway between exits 59 and 58 westbound, snarling the early morning commute.
A Hyundai Genesis was traveling in the center lane while a Nissan Juke was traveling in the HOV lane. The Nissan veered into the center lane and crashed into the Hyundai, according to the preliminary investigation.
The Hyundai stopped in the grass on the right side of the highway, while the Nissan ultimately hit a concrete barrier and stopped in the left shoulder, state police said.
The Nissan passenger, identified as Mireilly Vega, 25, of East Hartford, was taken to a nearby hospital where she died from serious injuries. The Nissan driver was taken to a hospital for minor injuries, state police said.
The Hyundai driver declined medical attention on the scene, state police said.
