SHELTON, Conn — A Shelton man is facing a charge of producing child pornography, according to the Department of Justice Wednesday.
Ross DeLibro, 53, of Shelton, was charged by a federal criminal complaint with production of child pornography, which includes a mandatory minimum prison term of 15 years and a maximum of 30 years, the DOJ said. He was arrested on related state charges on June 11 and has since been detained.
Citing court documents, the DOJ said that a detective from the Connecticut State Police Computer Crimes Unit began investigating images and videos of child sex abuse that were shared over a "peer-to-peer file sharing network."
It was learned during the investigation that the IP address associated with DeLibro's residence in Shelton was used to download videos of child sex abuse, the DOJ said.
On May 1, investigators seized multiple items belonging to DeLibro, including his Apple MacBook Air, his iPhone, and an external hard drive, during a court-authorized search of his home, according to the DOJ.
The investigation found images and video files of male children being sexually abused, as well as two images in which DeLibro appeared to be "engaging in sexually explicit conduct with a toddler," the DOJ said.
The investigation was led by the Homeland Security Investigations and the Connecticut State Police, with assistance from the Shelton Police Department and the Connecticut Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection's Division of Scientific Services.
