WESTPORT, Conn. — A burglary occurred at the Lux, Bond & Green jewelry store on Main Street in Westport on Thursday afternoon, according to a release from Westport police.
Police said they responded to the location at approximately 3:10 p.m. after employees at the store reported that two individuals wearing masks and gloves entered the space with sledgehammers and began smashing display cases.
The employees remained safe by retreating to the rear of the store, where they had no interaction with the suspects, police said.
It is unknown how much jewelry the suspects stole, according to police, who noted that the suspects fled the store and ran south on Elm Street. The suspects were last sighted leaving the area in a black BMW sedan heading in the direction of Fairfield on Post Road East, according to police.
