NORWALK, Conn. — Last Friday afternoon, Connecticut State Police were advised that a man made a verbal threat against a Judge of the Connecticut Superior Court, according to a CSP release.

State police believe that the alleged threat was issued during a phone call between Nicholas Supple, 49, of Norwalk, and a call taker from a Judicial Call Center in Hartford.

After an investigating trooper spoke with the call taker, the call taker said that earlier in the afternoon, they received a call from an angry man who was trying to acquire body camera and motor vehicle footage from his recent arrest.

During the phone call, the man, eventually identified as Supple, allegedly told the call taker, “I am going to assassinate the judge that signed my warrant,” according to state police.

Due to the seriousness of the threat, the call was transferred to a supervisor and flagged in the call center’s system. The supervisor who received the transferred call told the trooper that Supple was the individual who made the threat, state police said.

State police added that the supervisor told the trooper that Supple called regarding an incident in which he was arrested recently and stated he was upset with the judge who signed the arrest warrant application for his arrest.

The trooper discovered the name of the judge who signed Supple’s arrest warrant application, and the judge was informed that a threat was made against them. Norwalk police attempted to locate Supple at his last known address but failed to find him there.

According to state police, the investigating trooper discovered that Supple was employed at a Norwalk business and contacted the business to try to find him. The business manager told the trooper that Supple was scheduled to work the following day.

State police say an arrest warrant application for Supple’s arrest was completed and signed by a judge.

On Saturday morning around 5 a.m., troopers assigned to Troop I in Bethany found Supple at his place of work and took him into custody, state police said.

Supple was taken to Troop I; he was processed and charged with second-degree threatening and second-degree breach of peace, according to state police.

Supple was held on a $250,000 bond and was scheduled for arraignment at Derby Superior Court on Tuesday.
