Quinnipiac University building reopen and safe after police, public safety investigation

A university alert said that the Regional Bomb Squad was investigating a report of a pipe bomb, but nothing was found.

HAMDEN, Conn. — A Quinnipiac University building is reopen and safe after a police and public safety investigation Wednesday afternoon involving a report of a pipe bomb, according to the university.

Shortly before 2 p.m., a student notified the university about a post on Yik Yak, a social media platform, that said there was a pipe bomb in the bathroom of the Carl Hansen Student Center, the university said.

The Regional Bomb Squad was called to the campus to investigate but no pipe bomb was found, according to the university.

The Carl Hansen Student Center building, connected to Tator Hall, was previously closed during the investigation but is now open after the bomb squad deemed the building safe. A spokesperson said they spent a few hours checking the building before giving an all-clear.

Tator Hall classes were cancelled for the rest of the day Wednesday.
