BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — A Waterbury man has been convicted of the 2021 murder of 24-year-old Raheem Lynch, of Bridgeport, outside of a Bridgeport gentleman’s club, according to a release Monday from the Connecticut Division of Criminal Justice.

DCJ reports that a Superior Court three-judge panel convicted 35-year-old Waterbury resident Jaquan Bryant on Nov. 26 of Lynch’s murder.

The panel consisted of the Honorable Robin Pavia, the Honorable Eliot Prescott and the Honorable Peter McShane. The group deliberated for one day and unanimously found Bryant guilty of murder.

According to DCJ, during the early morning hours of Nov. 6, 2021, Lynch was shot in the head as he sat in a friend’s car outside of Mystique Gentleman’s Club in Bridgeport. Police found a video showing a vehicle registered to Bryant driving by Lynch’s location at the time the shots were reported.

Using witness statements and video from inside the club, investigators determined that Bryant got into a fight in the club with someone else just before the shooting. DCJ said Bryant waited for that person to leave the club.

When the individual left the club, Bryant drove by and fired six shots in that person’s direction. Lynch was sitting in a nearby car and was struck in the head by one of the bullets.

“The Bridgeport Police Department’s thorough investigation made this verdict possible,” Assistant State’s Attorney Kristin Chiriatti, who tried the case for the state, said.

State’s Attorney Joseph Corradino also complimented the work of those involved in bringing Bryant to justice.

“The impressive effort of Ms. Chiriatti, Inspector John Andrews and Det. Keith Hanson brought this case to a successful conclusion and is another step forward in ridding the community of senseless gun violence,” Corradino said.

When Bryant is sentenced in Bridgeport Superior Court on Feb. 3, 2025, he faces 60 years in prison.
