HARTFORD, Conn — FOX61 has earned a National Edward R. Murrow Award for 2024 from the Radio Television Digital News Association. Connecticut's News Station submitted innovative and notable news pieces, which went up against submissions from other stations around the country.
FOX61's weather forecasting won the Excellence in Innovation Award. FOX61's meteorologists use compelling visuals and explanations in their reports, along with weather outlooks, to keep viewers informed of seasonal severe weather. Watch the submission below:
The weather reporting piece also won a Regional Edward R. Murrow Award earlier this year against other stations in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont.
Earlier this year, FOX61's reporting from Jim Altman won the regional Excellence in Writing award, highlighting just some of the many local stories Jim covered in the past year. Watch the submission below:
The Regional and National Edward R. Murrow Awards are among the prestigious recognitions one could receive in broadcast and digital news.
The National Murrow Award winners will be honored at a gala in New York City this October.
