AVON, Conn. — First & Last Tavern in Avon is set to close on Nov. 10, according to a Facebook post Thursday.
The restaurant chain, known for its Italian cuisine, did not cite a reason for the closing of the Avon spot, located on 26 West Main St.
"It's hard to believe 30 years has passed since we first opened our doors. As we reflect on it all now, we are remembering all of the birthdays, wedding rehearsal dinners, baby and bridal showers, holiday parties, graduations and special family dinners that we were lucky to be a part of," the restaurant wrote. "We owe our longevity and success to our amazingly loyal customers. We can't thank you enough for supporting us throughout the years."
First & Last Tavern said that they plan to continue serving customers for "years to come" with remaining locations in Plainville, Glastonbury and Hartford.
According to the restaurant's website, the tavern has been a landmark of Hartford since 1936. The name First & Last came from being the first tavern inside the town line of Hartford and the last when leaving.
