BRISTOL, Conn. — A woman is dead after an SUV hit her while crossing a road in Bristol, police said.
The crash happened around 11:45 p.m. Thursday as the woman was on Middle Street in the area of Lake Avenue by Casey Casey Field. Police said that as the woman began to cross the road, she was hit by a driver on Middle Street driving a small-sized SUV.
Police said the driver of the SUV stopped, and she, along with another witness, stopped to check on the woman who was hit.
First responders got to the scene and the woman was rushed to a nearby hospital. She was later pronounced dead from her injuries.
According to officials, the SUV driver was not injured, and she is cooperating with investigators.
The roads were shut down in the area while the accident reconstruction team investigated the crash, but they reopened around 5:30 a.m. Friday. The woman who was hit has not been identified at this time.
