FARMINGTON, Conn. — For the 130th season, Camp Courant in Farmington has opened its gates again offering a summer escape for hundreds of Hartford kids.
Corrianne Chipello, the CEO and executive director of Camp Courant, said, “We make sure we give a safe, fun environment to 750 kids every single day, whether it’s yoga, STEM, music and be outside and enjoy this beautiful weather."
Ty’Asia Little, now 19 and a councilor at Camp Courant, began as a camper at age five.
Little said, “the best part of opening day is seeing all the new faces and getting to know new people.”
She added, “everyone can get acquainted with each other and we can prepare for the whole summer.”
Junior leader Jahmari Folston said, “opening day is about meeting new people, it’s people coming together and feeling great.”
For Hartford kids ages five to 12, the free program can run for the duration – a six-week session.
Chippelo said, “this is about opportunity; we gift opportunities here.”
She went on to add, “We have organized chaos at camp, and we are very proud of that.”
