EAST HARTFORD, Conn. — East Hartford Animal Control and animal advocacy group Desmond's Army are looking for those responsible in the abandonment of a dog found in a severe condition in August.
The town's animal control said their officers were called on Aug. 29 to the area of Smith Drive for a small, white and tan female dog "that was lying in the grass shaking." They also determined that she had been placed there by someone given that she could not have gotten there herself in her physical state.
Due to the dog's condition, she was later humanely euthanized at a veterinary hospital, East Hartford Animal Control said.
Anyone with information is asked to contact East Hartford Animal Control officers by calling them at 860-291-7572, messaging them on their Facebook page or emailing them at animalcontrolofficersemail@easthartfordct.gov. It was noted that calls can remain confidential.
A $5,000 reward "leading to the arrest and prosecution of those responsible" is being offered by Desmond's Army animal advocacy group.
