HARTFORD, Conn. — Hartford police arrested two suspects in a homicide investigation that began in May, according to the city's police department Thursday.
Police identified the suspects as Pedro Velez, 32, of Hartford and Barrett Ricketts, 31, of Bloomfield.
Velez is facing charges of manslaughter in the first degree and criminal liability/manslaughter in the first degree, police said. Ricketts is facing a charge of criminal liability/manslaughter in the first degree.
On May 30 at 8:25 p.m., police said they went to the area of New Britain Avenue for a report of a fight.
Police found an unresponsive man, identified as William Jemison, 38, of Hartford, with an "apparent puncture wound." First responders brought the man to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The Hartford Police Major Crimes and Crime Scene Divisions assumed the investigation, according to police.
On June 3, members of the Hartford Police Violent Crimes Unit and Auto Theft Task Force found and arrested Velez, police said.
The Hartford Police Fugitive Task Force and U.S. Marshals later located Ricketts on Thursday and placed him into custody.
