HARTFORD, Conn. — Two men allegedly attempting to pay for sex with a minor were arrested on Thursday during a sting operation at an undisclosed location in Hartford, the city’s police department reported on Friday.
According to a release from police, the department’s Special Investigations Division worked with the FBI Crimes Against Children/Human Trafficking Task Force to conduct a “child exploitation deterrence operation.”
Christopher Cheong, 30, of New Britain, and Jeffrey Cunningham, 50, of West Hartford, were apprehended after responding to the location “with the criminal intention of exchanging money for sexual acts with a minor,” police said.
Both suspects were taken into custody and brought to the Hartford Police Detention Facility for processing. Each man is being held on a bond of $500,000, the release said.
Cheong and Cunningham face the same charges – criminal attempt illegal sexual contact with a minor under 16, criminal attempt sexual assault second degree and criminal attempt commercial sexual abuse of a minor.
