Hartford police said the victim was struck and killed just before midnight. The car that hit him was later found by state police.

HARTFORD, Conn. — A Massachusetts woman is dead after she was hit by a car just before midnight in Hartford, police said.

Police were called to the area of Main Street, just north of Tower Avenue, after a report of a person hit by a car. When officers arrived, they found 40-year-old Lutricia Daniels, who lived in Chicopee, Massachusetts.

According to police, Daniels was pronounced dead at the scene from her injuries.

The car that hit Daniels, a red Honda Accord, drove off from the scene just after the crash. Connecticut State Police later found the Honda engulfed in flames on Interstate 384 eastbound near exit 2.

The Hartford Police Crime Scene Division assumed the investigation from state police.

Hartford officials have not identified a suspect at this time.
