Manchester man died in Hartford shooting, police say

Investigators believe that there was a dispute before shots were fired.

HARTFORD, Conn — Hartford police said Thursday afternoon that they were investigating a homicide involving shots fired. 

Officers went to the area of Florence Street at 1:13 p.m. for a report of shots fired and a person down.

Police said they found an unresponsive man, identified as Chevoyia Rivers, 30, of Manchester, who was injured in the shooting.

First responders attempted life-saving measures until an EMS arrived and brought Rivers to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The Hartford Police Major Crimes and Crime Scene Divisions assumed the investigation, police said.

Investigators believe that there was a dispute before shots were fired.
