HARTFORD, Conn. — Following a pursuit, two individuals were apprehended by Hartford police Friday afternoon in connection to a shooting that occurred on Sigourney Street near a Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant.
According to Hartford Police Lt. Aaron Boisvert, Hartford police were dispatched to the area of 408 Sigourney Street around 3 p.m. after receiving a report of a fight. When they arrived on scene, they located an adult male victim suffering from a gunshot wound.
Hartford police say the man was taken to an area hospital for treatment, where he was last reported to be in critical but stable condition.
As officers investigated the shooting, police located a suspect vehicle using Hartford's "C4" (Capital City Control Center) cameras. That information was relayed to patrol and Street Crimes officers, and the suspect vehicle was located.
The vehicle initially failed to stop for police, but officers said they successfully used a tire deflation device to disable the fleeing vehicle just before it entered Interstate 84 Westbound.
Hartford police say the vehicle came to rest on I-84 near Exit 44. The driver and passenger were taken into custody, and a gun was found inside the vehicle, according to the police department.
The Hartford Police Major Crimes Scene Divisions responded and are assisting with the investigation, which remains active and ongoing. Anyone with information relevant to the shooting can call the police department’s tip line at 860-722-8477.
The identities of the victim and suspects have not yet been released.
This is a developing story. FOX61 will provide an update as soon as one is made available.
