HARTFORD, Conn. — The city of Hartford’s 311 app is making a comeback.
Thursday morning, state leaders announced the app's relaunch in the Frog Hollow neighborhood of Connecticut’s capital city and offered a demonstration of how the app works.
Hartford 311 is a toll-free, non-emergency call center and it's where residents can report things like pothole repairs, mattresses in the street, and snow hazards.
Mayor Arunan Arulampalam said it’s designed to connect the people of Hartford, businesses and visitors to city services.
“We want our residents to be able to see, to be able to track that, to have a sense of what's happening when they, when they call or when you know, when they submit a request, sometimes it might feel like a black hole and to know that the city is working on it and getting to it and to then see the progress to see the pothole filled, to see the couch taken off that street corner, to see that broken light fixed. We hope we will connect our residents or their government, connect our residents to the work that's being done on their behalf,” Arulampalam said.
All residents need to do is download the app and upload a picture of the pothole or other hazards.
Crews will get an alert and then schedule a repair. Officials said it typically takes one week to see a problem fixed.
