HARTFORD, Conn. — Hartford police made two arrests following the discovery of a body on Pope Park Highway early Saturday morning.
Officers responded to a report around 7:10 a.m. and found the body of 18-year-old Edgar Jose Martinez, wrapped in a comforter.
Martinez, who had suffered a gunshot wound, is believed to have been placed there roughly 24 hours earlier.
Investigators traced the crime back to an apartment at 158 Magnolia Street.
According to police, a suspect vehicle was identified and stopped that evening on Park Terrance leading to the arrests of 21-year-old Sender Soto-Veliz and an unnamed 17-year-old.
Police said the suspects were all related and lived together. They are currently investigating a motive.
"We are working on a couple of theories," Hartford Police Lt. Aaron Boisvert said. "The most prominent is there was some sort of disagreement in the apartment that went bad which turned into a physical altercation which turned into a homicide."
The two were charged with tampering with evidence, murder, and hindering prosecution in the second degree.
Police continue to investigate the situation.
