HARTFORD, Conn. — A man was arrested Wednesday in connection to a fatal shooting in Hartford from August 2023, according to the city's police department.
Brian Jones, 28, of Hartford, is facing charges of murder and criminal possession of a firearm, police said.
Police said an investigation began on Aug. 14, 2023, at 7:06 p.m. when officers went to the area of Granby Street and Tower Avenue for a report of shots fired and found a man shot dead.
A crime scene was established on Lyme Street, according to police.
The man who died was identified by police as Angel Martinez, 32, of Hartford.
The Hartford Police Major Crimes and Crime Scene Divisions led the investigation. According to police, Jones was eventually determined to be a suspect after investigators established probable cause and a warrant was obtained for his arrest.
He was located on Wednesday and taken into custody by the United States Marshals Violent Fugitive Task Force and the Hartford Police Violent Crimes Unit, police said.
Jones is currently being held on a $800,000 bond.
