Woman dies in custody of Hartford police

Office of the Inspector General is investigating the death.

HARTFORD, Conn — The Office of Inspector General is investigating the death of a 49-year old woman while she was in the custody of the Hartford Police Department. 

Linda Praylow, 49, of Hartford, died on Sunday, She had been held for two days since her arrest on two warrants on Friday. She was held on $20,000 bond.

In the early morning hours Sunday, Praylow was discovered unresponsive in her cell. Officials said police rendered immediate medical aid, and American Medical Response transported her to Saint Francis Hospital. During transport, she had no pulse. She was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

As of this date, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has not determined the cause and manner of death.

The Office of Inspector General and the Connecticut State Police Central District Major Crime Squad are conducting the investigation, which is ongoing
