MIDDLETOWN, Conn. — An East Hartford man was arrested for charges related to a car tire theft that escalated into a stabbing on an early December morning.
Just after 2 a.m. on Dec. 17, 2023, Middletown police were called to Russet Lane, within the Hunters Crossing complex, for a report of a victim stabbed after approaching someone stealing the tires and wheels off of his vehicle.
The victim saw the suspect stealing from his vehicle and went outside to confront them, police said. It turned into a fight, which resulted in the suspect stabbing the victim several times in the torso, police said.
According to police, the victim was taken to the hospital and has since recovered from injuries.
The suspect, identified as Aneudi Sifuentes, 18, was arrested Wednesday and faces robbery, assault, larceny and criminal trover charges, as well as respective conspiracy to commit charges.
He was held on a $200,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
The investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected, police said. Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call police at 860-638-4140.
