HARTFORD, Conn. — A man was sentenced to life in prison Thursday for the fatal shootings of two people in Manchester in 2020, according to the Hartford Judicial District State's Attorney Sharmese Walcott.
Gregory Crichlow, 25, of Springfield, Mass. was sentenced after being found guilty on March 20 of two counts of murder and one count of murder with special circumstances.
According to Walcott, the Manchester Police Department received two 911 calls in the early morning of Aug. 2, 2020 about a shooting in the Buckland Hills commuter lot, where investigators learned that a gathering of vehicles had taken place for illegal car races.
Witnesses at the scene said that two people were in a vehicle when a truck parked next to it. Crichlow got out of the truck and went over to the vehicle, fatally shooting both the driver, Gregory Scott, Jr., 24 and a passenger seated in the back, Jennifer Hicks, 20, Walcott said, citing evidence from the trial.
Investigators eventually obtained video footage from a gas station that a witness had seen the truck at earlier in the day and linked it to Crichlow, Walcott said.
The Connecticut State Police Central District Major Crime Squad, the Hampden County Sheriff's Office and the Springfield Police Department were recognized for their work on the case.
