MANCHESTER, Conn. — Officers are investigating after two gas stations were hit with armed robberies early Monday that are believed to be connected, Manchester police said.
According to police, officers responded at 3:36 a.m. to Center Street at the Food Bag for a reported robbery with a gun involved.
The clerk told officers that a white male suspect in his 40s, wearing all-black clothing with blue sneakers, demanded money from the register while implying he was armed with a gun, police said.
The suspect never displayed a gun during the attempted robbery and ran from the scene without taking any money after the clerk called the police, the clerk told officers.
At 3:51 a.m., officers responded to a second reported armed robbery at the Exxon Gas on Adams Street.
The clerk said the suspect, a white male in his late 30s wearing dark clothing and blue sneakers, came into the store and demanded money. He reportedly took $100 in cash from the register and ran from the scene, police said.
The gun was reportedly never displayed, but it was believed that the handle of a black gun was in the suspect's waistband, the clerk said to police.
No one was hurt, and police are investigating a connection between both armed robberies.
The two gas stations are about 2 miles away from each other.
Anyone with information regarding either incident is asked to contact Manchester police at 860-645-5500.
