WINDSOR LOCKS, Conn. — An Ashford man was arrested at Bradley International Airport early Monday morning when he allegedly brought a handgun into the facility in a carry-on bag.
According to a release from Connecticut State Police, the handgun was determined to belong to 38-year-old Jason Hines, who was arrested without incident and charged with circumventing airport security.
Around 4:30 a.m., state police from Troop H were dispatched to the TSA security checkpoint 20-30 lane 2 for a possible handgun located in a passenger’s carry-on bag. Troopers met with TSA personnel, who had identified the handgun in a backpack during screening.
When asked about the firearm, Hines said he forgot it was in his bag, state police report.
The handgun found in Hines’ bag had nine live rounds of 9mm ammunition in the magazine, according to state police. The gun and ammunition were then seized as evidence in the investigation.
State police say that Hines was later released from custody on a $5,000 bond and will appear in Hartford Superior Court on Dec. 9.
