WINDSOR, Conn. — Connecticut State Police are reporting that a fatal motorcycle crash occurred on Interstate 91 in Windsor early Saturday evening.
Troop H personnel responded to I-91 Southbound in the area of Exit 35A at approximately 5:06 p.m. for the reported motorcycle crash, state police say.
A Yamaha motorcycle with two riders was traveling on the I-91 Southbound Exit 35A off-ramp when it veered into the left shoulder and collided with a metal beam guardrail for an unknown reason, state police say. Both riders were separated from the motorcycle during the collision.
State police say the motorcycle came to an uncontrolled final rest in the left shoulder of the Exit 35A off-ramp.
The motorcycle's passenger, 20-year-old Valerie Ann Eaton, of East Hartford, was pronounced dead on scene, according to state police.
The operator of the motorcycle, 33-year-old Randy Carrero, of Manchester, suffered minor injuries and was taken to Hartford Hospital for treatment, state police say.
I-91 Southbound Exit 35A to the I-291 Eastbound ramp was closed temporarily because of the crash, but the roadway has since reopened.
The crash is currently under investigation. Anyone who may have witnessed it is asked to contact TPR Michael Dean #416 at Troop H at 860-534-1098 or through email at Michael.Dean@CT.gov. Those who have a vehicle equipped with a dash cam who were in the area at the time of the crash are also asked to reach out to Dean.
This is a developing situation. FOX61 will provide updates as soon as they are made available.
