SOUTHINGTON, Conn. — A woman allegedly driving under the influence with a child in the car was arrested Saturday after a three-car crash in Southington, according to Connecticut State Police.
Troopers said they were sent at 7:25 p.m. to Interstate 84 west near exit 28 for a report of a multi-car crash that was blocking the right and center lanes of the highway.
Based on preliminary information, state police said they determined that a BMW X5 was traveling in the right lane of four when it rear-ended a Toyota Corolla, causing it to spin out and collide with the rear driver side of a Honda Pilot.
The driver and passenger inside the Toyota were taken to the hospital, along with the driver of the Honda, all of which reported minor injuries, state police said.
According to state police, the BMW had a one-year-old baby inside as a rear passenger who was taken to the hospital for minor injuries.
The BMW driver, identified as Elizabeth Silva, 36, of Weston, Mass., was arrested and is facing charges of reckless endangerment second degree, risk of injury to a child and operating a motor vehicle under the influence with a child.
Silva was released on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in New Britain Superior Court on May 3.
