WATERBURY, Conn. — A trooper was taken to the hospital with minor injuries Saturday afternoon after a three-car crash on Interstate 84 east in Waterbury, Connecticut State Police said.
Based on preliminary information, state police said that at 5:42 p.m., a Dodge Stratus ES was traveling along the center of three lanes when the driver suddenly lost control and hit a Toyota Corolla in the right lane.
According to state police, the Dodge then hit the rear end of one of their cruisers parked in the right shoulder of the highway, west of exit 25A.
The trooper and the driver of the Dodge, 21-year-old Kaitlyn McKenna, were taken to the hospital for minor injuries, state police said.
McKenna was found at fault for the crash and is facing charges of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, operating a motor vehicle without minimum insurance, failure to drive in proper lane, and traveling too fast for conditions, according to state police.
I-84 east between exits 25 and 25A were closed Saturday afternoon, but appear to have since reopened.
