PLYMOUTH, Conn — A child found unresponsive in a pool in Plymouth Tuesday has died, according to the town's police department.
The Plymouth Police Department said they received a call at 12:04 p.m. on Tuesday about a "possible drowning" at a home on Magnolia Lane in the Terryville section of Plymouth.
The town's police department, along with Plymouth Volunteer Ambulance Corps, the Terryville Fire Department and additional medical services went to the scene, police said.
First responders found the child unresponsive in a pool at the home and attempted life saving measures, according to police. The child was taken to the hospital and was later pronounced dead.
Police said there is an ongoing investigation pending the results of an autopsy from the state's Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. A cause of death has not been determined.
"Many of us at the Plymouth Police Department have children of our own and cannot imagine what loved ones are feeling," police wrote in a Facebook post. "We send our deepest condolences to the child's family, and we ask that you respect their privacy during this difficult time."
