LITCHFIELD, Conn. — A crash involving a Department of Transportation truck on Route 8 in Litchfield Wednesday resulted in minor injuries, according to Connecticut State Police.
Based on preliminary information, state police determined that at 2:17 p.m., a Honda Accord was traveling along Route 8 north when for an unknown reason, it veered off the left lane and hit the trailer of a parked DOT truck.
The DOT truck was unoccupied and was parked on the grassy median of the roadway on Route 8 north at the time, near Exit 41, state police said.
The driver of the Honda had minor injuries and was taken by Litchfield EMS to Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, according to state police. They were issued an infraction for failure to maintain lane.
In a post on Facebook, the Northfield Volunteer Fire Company asked drivers to "please move over for DOT, wreckers, first responders, police officers or anyone else who's pulled over," noting the recent deaths of workers on Connecticut roadways.
