NEW MILFORD, Conn. — Schaghticoke Middle School in New Milford will be closed Tuesday after a threat involving the use of a weapon, according to the town's school district.
New Milford Public Schools Superintendent Janet Parlato, Ed.D., said that the school district received information about the threat Monday morning.
The threat only mentioned Schaghticoke Middle School, prompting the Tuesday closure, Parlato said. All other schools in the district will be open with an extra police presence as an "additional precautionary measure."
The New Milford Police Department is investigating the threat, according to Parlato.
This comes as the FBI investigates a threat of school violence posted to TikTok out of Bloomfield on Sunday. Bloomfield Public Schools will have extra police presence Tuesday.
