WEST HAVEN, Conn. — West Haven police say that a youth was arrested after allegedly making a false report about a person with a gun at Savin Rock School Wednesday.
At 2:44 p.m. Wednesday, a call was made to West Haven's 911 center, reporting a gun in Savin Rock School and a threat of a shooting, Rick Fontana, the town's emergency operations director, said.
West Haven police immediately responded and locked down the school, Fontana said. Officers searched the school and began an investigation after no threat was found.
After the school was cleared, all students were dismissed, Fontana said.
Detectives eventually identified a possible suspect and interviewed a youth with assistance from a West Haven police school resource officer.
The youth admitted to making a phone call to police about a person with a gun on school grounds and is facing charges of falsely reporting an incident in the first degree and breach of peace in the second degree.
