TORRINGTON, Conn. — A 22-year-old Torrington man has been found guilty of first-degree assault following a stabbing attack that took place more than two years ago.
According to the state’s Division of Criminal Justice, a Superior Court jury in Torrington found Jonathan Todd guilty of the offense on Friday.
Trial evidence revealed that on Sept. 22, 2022, Todd approached a victim who was sitting in a car outside of a Torrington business. Prosecutors say that a verbal altercation ensued, which became a physical fight.
While fighting the victim, Todd used a knife to stab the individual four times in the back, according to prosecutors. The victim was taken by LIFE STAR helicopter to Hartford Hospital, where he was treated for life-threatening injuries. Ultimately, the victim survived.
State’s Attorney David Shannon thanked the Torrington Police Department and the Western District Crime Squad of the Connecticut State Police for investigating the case.
Todd will be sentenced in Torrington Superior Court on Feb. 25, 2025.
