Serious bike collision with car in Killingworth under investigation: State police

The bicyclist was initially taken by Deep River EMS before being brought to a hospital by Life Star for suspected head injuries, according to state police.

KILLINGWORTH, Conn. — A bicyclist was seriously injured in a collision with a car in Killingworth Saturday, according to Connecticut State Police.

Based on preliminary information, state police said the crash happened at 12:16 p.m. Saturday on Rt. 80. 

Investigators learned that a 2019 Kia Sorento EX was traveling east on Rt. 80 when the driver spotted a bicyclist in the right lane and went into the westbound lane to avoid them, according to state police.

The bicyclist then turned into the Kia, leading to the collision, state police said. They were initially taken by Deep River EMS but were eventually brought to Hartford Hospital by Life Star for suspected head injuries, state police said.

Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked by state police to call Troop F in Westbrook at 860-399-2100.
