WESTBROOK, Conn. — A driver was caught going as fast as 120 mph, nearly double the speed limit, on Interstate 95 in Westbrook early Wednesday morning, police said.
A state police trooper who was monitoring traffic on I-95 North near Exit 64 saw a Mercedes speeding in the left lane. The Mercedes was going up to 120 mph in a 65 mph zone, state police said.
The trooper pulled the Mercedes over and took the driver, identified as Zhecheng Wu, 25, of Flushing, New York, into custody.
Wu was charged with reckless driving and was later released on a $500 bond. Wu is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 5.
Last week, state police arrested a woman for going as fast as 125 mph in a 55 mph zone on I-95 North in Greenwich.
