MIDDLETOWN, Conn. — Police are investigating nearly two dozen car break-ins that happened in the north end of Middletown on Monday.
Officers received 21 calls about cars being broken into overnight. Most of the break-ins happened in the town's North End, according to police.
The suspects broke the windows on victim’s cars and rummaged through the cars searching for items to steal, police said. Many of the victims reported that loose change or cash were stolen and one victim reported that her wallet was missing.
Police said they obtained surveillance footage of the suspect vehicle entering the area at approximately 3:00 a.m. in a white 4-door BMW sedan. There were at least three suspects in the car at the time of the thefts but their identities were concealed by their clothing.
Police reminded residents to keep personal or valuable items out of their vehicles and report any suspicious activity in their area, and said that they are looking into whether similar incidents may be connected to the break-ins.
Anyone with information on the identity of the suspects is encouraged to contact the Middletown Police Major Investigations Unit at 860-638-4140.
