NAUGATUCK, Conn. — One person was found dead and another injured after a report of a gunshot at a Naugatuck home Saturday evening, the town's police department said.
Naugatuck officers were called to a home on Goldfinch Lane on Saturday on the report of a man who had been shot. When officers got to the house, around 9 p.m., they found a man who died from a single gunshot wound.
The man was later identified as 36-year-old David Martins, who lived at the home.
Police said there was also a woman at the scene with non-life-threatening injuries she got before police arrived. During the investigation, police learned that there had been a fight between Martins and the woman.
Naugatuck detectives processed the scene, and the investigation was carried out into the following morning.
Police said that based on preliminary evidence, statements, and an autopsy conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, Martins' cause of death was ruled a suicide.
At this time, no charges are expected, officials said.
