NAUGATUCK, Conn. — Three teens were arrested and charged for allegedly setting a public works truck on fire in Naugatuck, according to police.
Police and firefighters were called to the town's department of public works storage area on Spring Street around 1:20 p.m. Friday for reports of heavy smoke.
Responding officers found a town dump truck on fire. An investigation was launched after firefighters put out the flames, police said.
The Connecticut State Police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit, along with their K-9 Aruba, also responded to help with the investigation.
Investigators tried to question four boys who were found near the scene, and they each ran off, police said. All four were apprehended after a foot chase, according to police.
Three of the boys, aged 16, were then charged in connection to the dump truck fire, police said.
The teens, who were not identified, were charged with arson, criminal trespass, criminal mischief and interfering with police.
