Homicide investigation underway in New Haven: Police

NEW HAVEN, Conn. — A Hamden man has died after sustaining injuries in a shooting that happened in New Haven early Saturday, according to police in the Elm City.

New Haven police were called to the area of Fairmont Ave., between East Ferry Street and Lancraft Street around 4:19 a.m. for a report of a person shot.

A caller told police that they heard several gunshots.

Responding officers found the scene but were told that someone had driven the gunshot victim to the hospital.

When police got to the hospital, officers secured the vehicle that was carrying the victim.

The victim, identified as 25-year-old Deshawn Maysonet from Hamden, died from his injuries, police said.
