NORTH HAVEN, Conn. — A dog was hit and killed by a vehicle Sunday morning in North Haven, the town's police department said. Investigators are looking for the driver who took off from the scene.
According to police, the dog was a 2-year-old black German Shepherd and was hit in the area of 1650 Hartford Turnpike at 7:40 a.m.
The driver of the vehicle, which was either a white Ford pickup truck or SUV, was traveling north along Hartford Turnpike at the time and did not stop after the crash, police said.
Police noted that the vehicle is expected to have front end damage from the collision.
Anyone with information or video footage of the crash is asked by police to contact Ofc. Capozzo at 203-239-5321 via extension 262. Police said callers can remain anonymous.
