MERIDEN, Conn. — A man was seriously injured in a Meriden crash Friday night, according to a release from Meriden police Saturday afternoon.
At approximately 10:36 p.m. on Friday, the Meriden Emergency Communications Center received multiple 911 calls regarding a head on collision on Cook Avenue, police said.
According to police, a 2008 Subaru Impreza was heading north along Cook Avenue when it collided directly into a 2006 Mercury Mountaineer that was traveling southbound on the same road. Both vehicles sustained heavy front-end damage.
Police said the male driver of the Impreza sustained serious life-threatening injuries and was taken to Hartford Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition as of this afternoon’s release.
The female driver of the Mountaineer had non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to MidState Medical Center in Meriden, according to police.
Police said the Meriden Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit took over the investigation and that Officer J. Vazquez is the primary investigator.
Anyone who may have witnessed the crash, or who lives in the area and may have footage of it, is asked to call Meriden police at 203-630-6201 or send an email to jvazquez@meridenct.gov or to Sgt. A. Kery at akery@meridenct.gov.
