EAST HAVEN, Conn. — East Haven police said a seven-month-old died after first responders found an unattended child unresponsive in a bathtub Sunday.
Officers said they went to Redfield Avenue at 9:08 p.m. Sunday to assist the East Haven Fire Department with the emergency.
First responders found an unresponsive child in a bathtub and learned that it was left unattended, police said.
East Haven Fire Department medics attempted life-saving measures before AMR brought the child to Yale New Haven Hospital.
Despite the efforts of the EHFD, AMR, and staff at Yale New Haven Hospital, the child died, according to police.
The East Haven Police Investigative Services Division is investigating. Police said they have identified all involved parties and that they remained at the scene.
"Our hearts break for the child's family during this incredibly difficult time," police said. "At this time, we are withholding the identities of those involved, pending further investigation."
