EAST HAVEN, Conn. — A toddler laying in bed was grazed by a bullet during what East Haven police believe was a targeted drive-by shooting in town overnight Saturday.
Police were called to a report of shots fired on Massachusetts Ave. at around 1:16 a.m. where, according to officers, a 3-year-old child suffered a graze wound while in bed.
The child was treated on scene before being taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Police determined that a dark-colored SUV was speeding south on Massachusetts Ave. when someone started shooting out of the passenger window.
This is a targeted shooting, according to police, and officers are following up on several leads.
Police are now asking neighbors to check video surveillance recordings for any dark-colored SUVs that may have been driving in the area around 1 a.m. and 2 a.m. on Saturday.
Anyone with video footage or information is asked to call 203-468-3820.
