EAST HAVEN, Conn. — A Groton man was arrested for allegedly impersonating a police officer on Interstate 95 in East Haven.

Michael Marshall was pulled over by Connecticut State police just before 9 a.m. near exit 52 on I-95 after a trooper spotted a vehicle with steady red and blue lights similar to those on law enforcement vehicles.

The trooper ran the license plate on the black Dodge Challenger and found that it was registered to Marshall and not a law enforcement agency.

When the officer asked Marshall about the lights, he admitted to using them to drive faster through traffic during his commute to work, state police said.

Marshall also told the trooper that he was not a police officer and did not have permission to use the steady red and blue lights.

The vehicle was towed and Marshall was arrested. He was released on a $5,000 bond and is due at New Haven Superior Court on Nov. 13.
