EAST HAVEN, Conn. — The East Haven Police Department is searching for suspects after multiple burglary incidents occurred Thursday in the vicinity of Ellis Road and Brazos Road.
The suspects were seen entering open garages and vehicles. They stole personal property, according to police, who said they fled in two vehicles. East Haven police are seeking the public’s help as the active investigation continues.
Around 12:07 p.m. on Thursday, East Haven police units were dispatched to Ellis Road after receiving a report of individuals entering a garage while the homeowner was inside the house. Police say that an unidentified male suspect reportedly exited a dark-colored SUV and entered an open garage on Ellis Road.
According to police, the suspect rummaged through the homeowner’s black Jeep Grand Cherokee, stealing a wallet. Two suspect vehicles were seen in the area, including a dark-colored Volkswagen Atlas and a gray BMW SUV.

Investigators on scene were informed that Guilford police recently reported a stolen black Volkswagen Atlas. While investigating, East Haven police noted that the Atlas near the scene of the crime did not have a front or rear license plate affixed, but Guilford police confirmed that the stolen Atlas had a silver ski/roof rack, like the car seen in a video provided to police.
During the investigation, a Brazos Road resident flagged down officers to report that the same suspect vehicles were seen parked in front of their residence. The driver of the Atlas was described as a slender, light-skinned man.
The suspect was seen exiting the Atlas and entering an unlocked vehicle in the driveway, from which they stole money and other personal belongings, according to East Haven police.
East Haven police add that surveillance footage captured the BMW SUV bearing a Connecticut license plate BM20643. Police say that registration belongs to a gray 2008 Honda Accord, which had been reported stolen out of New Haven.
As of Friday evening, the suspects were still unidentified, and the investigation remains active.
Anyone with information related to the burglaries, or who may know of the suspects, is encouraged to contact East Haven police at 203-468-3820.
