GUILFORD, Conn. — A man was arrested on a child pornography possession charge, according to the town's police department Wednesday.
Matthew Norman, 42, is facing a charge of possession of child porn in the first degree. He was held on a $250,000 bond and is expected at New Haven Superior Court on Thursday.
On Jan. 2, Guilford police detectives were contacted by a Plainville police detective about a child porn case that was initially linked to the town of Guilford but was later determined through search warrants to be in Branford, police said.
Guilford and Branford police, along with Connecticut State Police and Department of Homeland Security, executed a search warrant at Norman's home on March 29 and seized multiple items as evidence.
Guilford police said investigators later determined that Norman was in possession of a "substantial amount" of child porn. He was arrested on a warrant at his place of work in Branford Wednesday.
Guilford police credited the DHS, Branford and Plainville police, the Connecticut State Forensic Laboratory and the Office of the State's Attorney - Judicial District of New Haven for assistance in the investigation.
