MILFORD, Conn. — One person is in critical condition and two were evaluated after a water rescue in the area of the Milford Harbor, according to the city's fire department.
At 12:45 p.m., the Milford Operations Center received a 911 call about a sinking boat with three people in the water in the area of Milford Harbor, the fire department said.
An Oyster boat heard a "May Day" over their radio and found the boat almost completely submerged in the water, according to the fire department.
Three people were pulled from the water onto their boat, with one in critical condition. Bystanders provided medical rescue efforts before a fire crew arrived to continue the efforts.
All three were brought to Milford Hospital, with the individual in critical condition for advanced care and the other two for evaluation, the fire department said.
Milford Marine Units responded with the U.S. Coast Guard, the fire department said.
The cause of the incident, which officials estimate happened two miles off the coast, is under investigation.
"This is the second incident this fall that an Oyster boat has rescued fellow boaters in distress," the fire department said. "Again, we cannot thank these individuals enough for their heroic actions."
