MILFORD, Conn. — An arrest has been made in connection to a street takeover that took place in Milford in December, where an officer was assaulted after confronting the crowd.
Anthony Deems, Jr. 19, of Levittown, Pa., turned himself in to police on Thursday and was charged with riot, unlawful assembly and interfering with an officer.
Deems is accused of being at the Stop & Shop parking lot around 1:45 a.m. on Dec. 9, 2023, along with over 100 others in a large gathering.
An officer called to the scene confronted several people and was attacked from behind, which left the officer injured, according to police. Deems was also present for the assault, the investigation revealed.
Deems is set to appear in court on March 6 for this charge as well as for a failure to appear charge from West Haven police.
Police are actively following leads for other suspects.
